ArcGIS (ESRI) Software

ESRI (ArcGIS)

ArcGIS is a group of geographic information system (GIS) software produced by Esri.

ArcGIS software and extensions licensed for METU Campus are as follows:

1- Archinfo Desktop (60 Concurrent Users)
2- 3D Analyst (60 Concurrent Users)
3- Geostatistical Analyst (60 Concurrent Users)
4- Spatial Analyst (60 Concurrent Users)
5- Network Analyst (60 Concurrent Users)

Software requires licensing by a network license server (license.cc.metu.edu.tr) to be run in METU campus and supports Windows platforms (MS Windows XP / Vista / Windows 7).

Installation source is available at licensed software FTP site:

Not: Due to the license agreements, this site is accessible to METU personnel only.

Software DVD  can also be borrowed from from CC Library (Room no:109).

ArcGIS Desktop Installation:

1-) Software DVD imge file (Esri.iso) should be downloaded from ftp.cc to PC.

2- In the DVD, run  setup.exe in the  Desktop directory. At this step; the possible instructions and warnings about Microsoft.NET Framework and MSXML versions required for installation will be followed and these prerequisite software should be installed. .NET Framework can be installed from the DotNet35 directory in the DVD. Following this, installation will continue after some optional customizations made (like program installation directory or drive). A complete setup of all components is receommended at this customization step.

3- When setup is completed click "Finish" button. A window wtih the title "ArcGIS Administrator Wizard" will appear. In the "1. Select a product" section, select "ArchInfo Concurrent Use" at the top. In the  "2. Define a License Manager" section enter license.cc.metu.edu.tr for License Server Click  OK and close the window without clicking "Browse".

4- Open an ArcGIS software (like ArcMap), follow  Customize and Extensions menus on the menu bar at the top and select Archinfo Desktop, 3D Analyst, Geostatistical Analyst, Spatial Analyst, Network Analyst (ArcScan and Maplex in addition).
