Mcafee Antivirus is a software package contains Mcafee VirusScan Enterprise 8.7i that is designed to protect the personal computers from current virus threats and Mcafee Desktop Firewall 8.0 which is a firewall software that prevents the attacks to the computers . You can obtain the installation CD of the Symantec antivirus software from the Library of the Computer Center (Room No:109). The contents of the software's CDs are also available on ftp://ftp.cc.metu.edu.tr/Security/McAfee/

Student who canot access to ftp.cc. with their user codes can use the direct link  http://antivirus.metu.edu.tr/avfiles/McAfee87ir3.Zip to download the current version of McAfee.

(ftp.cc and student link are open to connections from METU campus network)

1. The antivirus software mentioned above can operate on Microsoft operating systems (Windows ME, 2000, XP, Vista, Windows 7) and Microsoft Windows servers (NT Server, Server 2000, Server 2003, Server 2008). However, Mcafee VirusScan 4.5.1 must be used on the computers which run Windows 95/98 operating systems. Symantec's recent antivirus solution (Endpoint Protection 11) offers a Linux solution optimized for Redhat and Suse distributions.
2. Only one of the antivirus software should be used on an operating system. If the antivirus software will be changed, the previous software should entirely be removed from the system before the installation of the other is conducted.
